There’s a new leather jacket making waves — and it’s inspired by one of the most recognizable denim designs of all time.
We came across an article from Gear Patrol about an amazing collaboration between Imogene + Willie, a Nashville-based American clothing brand, and Schott NYC, the legendary leather jacket maker from New York. Together, they’ve reimagined Levi’s classic Type II denim jacket — originally introduced in the 1950s — into a full-grain cowhide leather masterpiece.
This limited-edition piece, called the Cowhide Trucker Jacket, keeps the classic Type II features like the pleated front, twin button pockets, and adjustable waist tabs — but upgrades everything into premium American-made cowhide leather.
Schott NYC, famous for its Perfecto line, handled the leather craftsmanship at its factory in New Jersey. The jacket even carries Schott’s Perfecto tag, giving it a touch of heritage biker style.
Unlike the boxy fit of the original Levi’s Type II, this one is slimmer and sharper, giving off a cool 1960s vibe — think Saint Laurent or Celine but with that all-American toughness. Inside, it’s lined with Japanese indigo-dyed satin, which fades beautifully over time, just like denim.
💵 Price tag? Around $1,200 USD — not bad for a Made-in-USA leather jacket built to last decades.
We added a glimpse photo here on StudSide just to give you a peek, but for the full experience (and to see the full gallery), check out the full article over at GearPatrol.com.

Whether you’re a collector or just love leather, this collaboration shows how timeless workwear can evolve — and it might just inspire your next addition to your wardrobe 😉
